Every Tuesday at the top of The Bank, Waywards holds the Sydney Stand-Up Comedy Championship, Sydney’s only weekly stand-up comedy battle.
This show is all killer and no filler! Sydney’s best stand-up comedians have a limited time to win your vote. You’ll decide on the winner each night. Your favourite comedians will perform again. And the audience will choose who takes home the trophy!
We even have a FREE stand-up comedy class from 6:15pm-7pm before the show, where you’ll do some joke writing exercises and learn the art of stand-up comedy.

Birdcage is a high-energy, late-night party celebrating Sydney’s queer community, with a strong focus on uplifting FLINTA* bodies. Running since 2013, Birdcage takes over Waywards Ballroom every Wednesday night, featuring DJs, non-stop drag shows, wild dance-floor moments, and a crowd that knows how to let loose. It’s a midweek institution for the bold, the sweaty, and the beautifully unhinged.

22a label boss, flautist, saxophonist, producer and DJ, Ed ‘Tenderlonious’ Cawthorne is regarded as one of the leading figures in the London jazz and underground music scene. His South London based record label, 22a, is one of the most respected independent labels in the U.K. following a succession of sought after releases spanning jazz, house, hip hop, soul, garage, Indian classical and jungle. Running a record label is enough work alone, so anyone who digs a little deeper will know that Tenderlonious has amassed an armoury of releases that transcend your average U.K. artist.
Join us for an eclectic mix of live jazz-infused jungle/breaks from Australia’s finest experimental fusion artists. High-energy DJ sets will kick the night off before the bands take the stage to perform live originals of jazz-infused breaks/jungle.

The Electorate return to the stage to launch their sophomore LP By Design, out May 30 on Love As Fiction Records.
Featuring the singles Face of a Giant, Peace Love & Kindness, The Great Divide and Don’t Go Out, the new Electorate LP is a rough and tumble ride through their love of bent pop and glittering melodies. With half of By Design produced by Wayne Connolly (Teskey Brothers/Underground Lovers/Babe Rainbow) and half with Simon Berckelman (Polish Club/Boy+Bear) the new Electorate LP is one that Backseat Mafia have called "majestic and anthemic”, and the AU Review "drawing an arc to the iconic Go-Betweens and their beloved new wave Aussie indie-rock."
By Design is the follow up LP to The Electorate’s 2020 debut and 2SER feature' You Don’t Have Time To Stay Lost’, which Rolling Stone called “A stunning debut….one of the year’s best.” Featuring members of Big Heavy Stuff, The Apartments, Knievel, The Templebears and Atticus, The Electorate bring their best to to the front to launch By Design.
Rubber Necker have to be seen to be believed. The sounds that come off stage are danceable, warped, and thoroughly entertaining. Initially sold to one member of The Electorate as the Dead Kennedys colliding with the B-52s, the truth is, Rubber Necker defy description, and are a brilliant Sydney secret that won’t stay that way for long.
Restless Leg very kindly kick the night off with their collision of Flying Nun at CBGB’s sound and fury. Propelled by a driving rhythm section over which Ben Chamie’s songs shine, this is the last show Restless Leg will play in a while, and their last before they tour NZ with their latest brilliant opus, Dance Around My Head.
DJ/artist/radio presenter Mowgli May invites you into her nightlife clubland world and is bringing her friends along with her. Highlighting her handpicked personal fave DJs from across the queer/ballroom/baile scene, come shake ass (for free!), respectfully.

At the Cagefight, comedians have a limited time to win your vote. No one in the audience gets picked on at the Cagefight. Instead, the audience are part of the show and help the performers with suggestions and humour. You will vote for your favourite comedians via our electronic voting system. The crowd’s favourite comedians will perform again!

From San Francisco, California… Urban Sprawl is travelling Down Under this July for the very first time to play some of the dirtiest hardcore Australia has ever witnessed!
Born from a scene that has spawned legendary hardcore punk bands like Primal Rite, Look Back And Laugh, Punch, and now… Urban Sprawl. In their short existence they’re blasting their way towards something huge working with cult hardcore labels like Revelation and Convulse Records with new music on the horizon.
Featuring members who have spent time in Tørsö as well as Profile, Ceremony, Cell Rot, Wound Man, and even Joyce Manor, Urban Sprawl tackles issues plaguing the Bay Area like gentrification and inequality.
